SALSA DANCE MINI’S
$40 for 4 weeks
5pm Sunday
One of the most dancer friendly of the couples dance styles! Fun, fast, very usable in dance situations, and great exercise. New York Club Style Salsa is taught with some 2 step, Merenge, and Mambo thrown in. Our new “mini” format is designed to get you on the dance floor with your partner fast with minimal scheduling problems! Wear comfortable clothes and smooth bottomed shoes to class.

BALLROOM DANCE MINI’S
6pm Sunday
$40 for 4 weeks
Going on a cruise? Getting ready for a wedding? Or just want to learn how to do partner dances and don’t have much time? Then this is the class for you! Each class is just four weeks long and will focus on one style of Ballroom Dance so you will be able to strut your stuff on the dance floor with confidence when your done. No partner needed. Wear smooth bottomed shoes to class, no sneakers or rubber soled shoes.

April 15-May 6—“Fox Trot”

COUPLES HULA
6pm Wednesday
6 Weeks–$75 per couple
Couples dance can be found in any culture. If you are looking for something new and fun to do with your partner, why not give Couples Hula a try. The dances of the Islands are uplifting, great exercise, and a perfect way to spend time with your ku’u ipo, the island name for “sweetheart.” You will learn a short dance from our certified Hula Instructor. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothes, and bare feet. Couples only, ages 18 and up.

Russian Belly Dance Styling

You have seen her dance in our shows and festivals, now learn how to dance like a Russian Goddess, too! Katerina will be teaching a technique filled and elegant choreography. Belly Dance experience required.Show will begin at 8pm and feature dancers from the workshop as well as the lovely Katerina. Dancers registered for the workshop are welcome to showcase their talents in our House Hafla that evening. Please let Janna know if you are interested in dancing!

A Crash Course In Creativity: The Inner and Outer Art of Dance

Take your creativity and learn to apply it to every part of your dance! From individual moves, music, choreography, costumes, make up and props. Immerse your audience and your self in a fantasy of your own design. This workshop will begin with a look at the Outer Arts. You will learn Dana Beaufait Stevens personal methods of picking the music, colors, make-up and costume pieces to bring your performance to life. As well as, make-up application for all time limits, skill levels, ages, and budgets.

Then we will look at the Inner Arts with mental exercises that will help you get the creative juices flowing and open your mind. We will also address practical applications in the expression in dance broken down into a step by step process. This workshop will warm you up physically and emotionally, giving you a whole new perspective on basic moves and open the eternal road to heartfelt expression.

This workshop can be applied to ANY style of dance! Whether you want to have a sassy cabaret number or a sultry tribal feel.

Run Time: 3hrs with break

Level: Appropriate for all levels

Please Bring: Your make-up bag, notebook, yoga mat and water bottle.

We are proud to announce the beautiful Katerina teaching a challenging and technique filled Russian style choreography on Feb. 4, 2012 and Dana Beaufait’s “Crash Course in Creativity: The Inner and Outer Art of Dance. “ And there will be more announced soon! “Paint-a-Thon” and Holiday Hafla!

Good news! We have a new lease for the studio! We have cleaned out the studio and will be painting the main room and redecorating this Saturday starting at around 2pm. Join us if you can for a “Paint-a-thon”. BYOB..bring your own brush! As you know, many hands make lite work. See you there!

I’m so happy to host our Holiday Hafla again this year! Join us for some Holiday dancing, fun, food, this is a pot luck dinner so bring your favorite dish to share soft drinks will be provided, and holiday cheer!

Dancers, let me know if you want to perform. Holiday music selections are on a first come first serve basis, so call or email me with your song as soon as you decide. Also, dancers who plan on dancing in the Hafla, we will have a practice session on Thursday at 7pm for the finale candle dance and if you need to rehearse with large props or such.

So join us to celebrate the Holidays and see the new look at Janna’s!

Dancers, here are the times you need to be at the theater for our Fall Hafla Rehearsal. Please be on time since we have to run a fairly tight schedule and we can’t go back and redo any dances that have already been on the stage. Remember this is Williamsburg and allow extra time for driving and parking. The front of the Sadler building is now finished, no more construction! Yeah! Be sure to bring any props, costume parts that have not been dance tested, and music if your a soloist. See you there.

Hello Dancers,
If you have had both Package A & B of the Beginner Belly Dance Classes at Janna’s or have been out for a while from classes, here’s a chance to get back into dance in a low key no pressure way. Dance is one of the most effective stress relievers and one of the most cost effective. And its fun!

Join us at 6pm October 17 for the Short Course Veil Class. The price is $60 for 6 weeks. Bring a veil if you have one. Silk veils are available for purchase at Janna’s.
